Laboratory Visit

On Friday 3rd March 2017 we were very fortunate to be invited to visit the research laboratory in Lincoln University, where groundbreaking work by Dr Mike Christie could help to find people at risk of Diabetes Type 1. Dr Christie gave a most interesting illustrated talk on his work. (See Balance magazine Sept/ Oct 2016). We were then split into manageable groups to visit the laboratories and also given the opportunity to "perform" (using the laboratoy equipment) the type of work his researchers are engaged in. We also met two other doctors who were equally interesting and very informative.

During the day we spoke  to Professor Squires and his wife and gave a donation of £1000 to be put towards their research into "finding new ways to stop diabetes related kidney damage". This project is due to run from Jan 2017 to Dec 2019.

An extremely  interesting day, which gave more insight into the reseach done by Diabetes UK
